The South West Regional Development Association Inc. (SW RED)was formed in 1992 to administer the Business Advice for Rural Areas program.

It is an incorporated body whose purpose is to provide a leadership role to maintain local and regional economies and to achieve sustainable economic growth throughout the South West region of Queensland.

The four participating local governments include Bulloo, Murweh, Paroo and Quilpie Shire Councils as well as funding and advice from the Queensland State Development Department.

The Shires cover a vast area of South West Queensland totalling some 232 square kilometres extending west from the South Australian border, north to and including Augathella and south to the New South Wales border.

It is beautiful and wild country representing some spectacular Australian natural environments as well as unique culture and tradition.

It boasts unlimited tourism and other economic opportunities supported by developing and well-maintained infrastructure.

The SW RED management Board represents people from council, businesses industry, community organizations, government and tourism.

The Board determines potential and existing economic development programs and directs its two employees, the Economic Development Officer and the Regional Business Advisor to deliver its recommendations.

As part of SW RED's economic and community development strategy we have incorporated activities and projects that make our regional communities a better place in which to work, visit and live.
