CURRENT EXHIBITION:

"Jewels of the West"

Our current exhibition "JEWELS OF THE WEST" features local talents from within the district. Artist Melanie Hava and Geoffrey Manthey will be showcased along with a display of Gary Berghofer's matrix and bolder cut opals; Chris Berghofer's glass beads and 'Only Local' wood crafted creations. Displayed also will be silver jewellery made by sisters Stacey and Tammy's whose brand is 'Silver from the sticks'. With such a variety of works and talents there is no reason not to head on over to the Art Gallery Opening which will be held at the 'Cunnamulla Fella Centre' 2 Jane Street, Friday 2 September.
Refreshments and hors-d'oeurves will be provided on the night of the Gallery opening.

"CELEBRATING THE WEST" Exhibition closes 31 August 2011

Jenny Greentree is exceptionaly talented artist whose inspiration comes from 'Outback'- "I like to capture the rugged beauty, unusual scenes and fleeting moments that people would normally miss unless they are living in the outback."

Giclee- pronounced "Gi" "Clay". Giclee is the highest quaility form of art reproduction using wide format inkjet printing technolgy.

The "Seeking Ludwig" Exhibition

Bob spent a couple of years researching explorer Ludwig Becker's involvement with the Burke & Wills expedition and, following in Ludwig's footsteps, his travels took him through western NSW and Queensland which inspired this work.

From the 16 July a 'Flood Retrospective - 1910 to 2010' provided an insight into how floods have impacted on outback lifestyles.

The Exhibition featured images from the recent March/April 2010 floods and historic photographs from as early as the late 1890's. We have had many requests to find a permanent place in the Museum display for these images.

The 'Showtime' Exhibition featuring local art and craft from 28 May to 6 July was a huge success and visitors complimented the works on display.

Visitors enjoyed a selection of Cathy Carson's beautiful pastels which opened in February 2010, and we were treated to an extended exhibition.

Our 'Scrapheap to Studio' Exhibition presented unique sculptures by Enngonia artist Tony Mallon, as well as canvas and art prints by popular Lightning Ridge artist John Murray.

This hugely popular exhibition is whimsical and entertaining and is sure to amuse you. Don't miss your chance to visit the Art Gallery before the Exhibition closes on 15 January 2010.

'Generations of Dreaming' curated by Phillip Collins, was a Collection of work by Indigenous Artists which ran from 18 September to 6 November 2009.

The 'Landscape, Culture and Colour' Exhibition which ran from 31 July to 15 September 2009, showcased work by Geoff Manthey and, for the first time, featured opal and opal jewellery by Garry Berghoffer.

This was the second time the Gallery welcomed Geoff Manthey who is a descendant of the Kooma Tribe of south west Queensland. Cunnamulla is where he grew up and spent most of his early adult life.

An Exhibition of Local Art and Craft curated by Rene Fagan, closed on 28 July 2009, following a very successful run.

Residents and visitors enjoyed and were inspired by works of talented local artists.

The Nash Snider Exhibition closed 27 May 2009 amidst huge accolades for this promising young artist.

Nash is an Aboriginal descendant from the Kuku Yalandji clan group located between Mosman and Laura, in Far North Queensland. He graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Degree at the Queensland University of Technology, Kelvin Grove Campus, Brisbane.

His artwork is described as contemporary Aboriginal Art and he combines a variety of styles and technqiues to create his art. Nash says his inspiration comes from the land, wildlife and stories relating to our country, Australia.
